An update from the Principal - Term 5

Welcome Back - Term 5

Welcome back to a slightly different version of Term 5. I hope that you have all managed to enjoy a “creative” Easter break. If you look at the website, you will see that our Term 5 work tab can now be accessed. In essence, we have finished LC3 and move onto LC4. If you have trouble accessing the work, please do contact us and we will help you out. I know that Heads of Year have been emailing their year groups and supporting students as needed; we will continue to help your child to learn remotely, for as long as we need to. As well as our bespoke WCSA resources, there are a lot of free resources which we detail on the website.

I appreciate that it is hard to replicate the school day at home. Sticking to the normal timetable is a good starting point. It is also key to take frequent breaks, stay hydrated and to move. I know that Joe Wicks is proving hugely popular nationwide; it’s simply a question of getting your children to move around and get oxygen to their brains during the course of the day.

Our service for key workers continues from Monday 20 April. Please do use this service if you need to; however, it is not a chance to simply meet up with friends and socialise. We will be expecting students to log onto PCs and complete the work set by teachers throughout the course of the day. I appreciate your support with this.

Finally, I am fully aware of the concern over the way that grades will be awarded for Year 11 students. We are taking our lead from the government (as all schools are) and we know that students will be graded for their efforts. The planned results day will take place on Thursday 20 August. As in years gone by, students will be able to collect their results so they know how they have performed in school (this is really a culmination of 11 years of hard work). So, please rest assured that Year 11 students will receive GCSE results, which will be a recognised qualification.

I will keep in touch with you on a weekly basis. In the meantime, please do email me if you have pressing concerns.
