Worle Community School Academy is an inclusive and supportive school, committed to meeting the needs of all its pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We seek to do this by ensuring all our students have access to a broad and balanced curriculum, high quality teaching and pastoral support.

We recognise that all our pupils are individuals therefore the support we offer will differ for each pupil.  This support can include targeted interventions, additional literacy and numeracy provision, 1:1 mentoring, social skills, differentiated materials, in-class support from our team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and emotional and well-being support using the ‘Thrive’ approach.

For further information on our SEND provision please see our SEND Information Report, or contact our SENDCO, Ms. McCarthy at sarah.mccarthy@wcsa.theplt.org.uk

This animation seeks to preempt misconceptions among young audiences by shedding light on the real challenges dyslexic children face whilst also acknowledging their strengths and potential. A supporting teaching resource can be found here: http://bit.ly/2ovAKnw It was created by the British Dyslexia Association with funding from the DfE alongside the dyslex.io mobile first website to support dyslexic people and to encourage people to 'See dyslexia differently'.
Kids with a formal diagnosis, such as autism, Asperger's, ADHD, learning disabilities, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Central Auditory Processing Disorder -- along those who just need to move while learning--often find it challenging to shine in a traditional classroom. The kids who collaborated to write and star in this "Dear Teacher" video represent such students.

This video will help teachers adjust their classrooms to be more accommodating towards students who experience dyscalculia.
