Parent Update - Sports Day

July 4th and 19th saw the PE Department run the WCSA annual sports day. This competition gives students the opportunity to put their skills to the test against fellow students competing in the other 4 sports teams in a traditional style athletics event.

The Year 7 and  8 preliminary competition was held on the 4th and proved to be a fantastic start to proceedings. Throughout the day several long standing schools records fell to current sporting talent. A special mention needs to go to Josh S in Year 8 who broke the school records in both javelin and discus.

On 12th July our Year 9 and 10 athletes took on the field and long distance events. It was clear that the students had been putting the effort in behind the scenes as we witnessed records tumbling in both the jumps and the throws.

The afternoon proved to be the “Blue Ribbon” event of WCSA sports day. The whole school came out in the afternoon to witness the intensity of the sprint events competed for by all four year groups. The lovely weather brought with it a really competitive field of athletes, who pushed each other to record some phenomenal times.
