Introduction and ethos of subject
The Music Faculty are a passionate team of individuals who combine their vast range of experiences to offer an engaging and enriching curriculum. As a team we are dedicated to enriching the lives of the students in our care and rigorously ensure lessons spark interest, develop knowledge and challenge students to achieve their full potential.
Music at WCSA is a creative, rigorous and practical subject which provides opportunities for our students to develop a broad range of subject knowledge, skills and understanding. As well as consistently guiding students to excellent music results in GCSE and Music Practitioners, the Worle music department provides many opportunities for students to perform and share their talents with the school, parents and carers, and the wider community. Worle music students have performed in school concerts, cathedrals, cafes, nightclubs and outdoor venues. The Youth Choir has performed all round Europe since their first tour in 1992, to Belgium.
The staff encourages students to explore music in a wide variety of styles, from choral, classical, folk and jazz, to pop, rock, heavy metal, electronic dance music and beyond. Students can join already established music groups or form their own. Worle Community School also has many outstanding solo musicians.
The music department is equipped with numerous Apple Mac computers and the latest software for composing and producing music, as well as an industry standard recording studio for students to record their compositions and demos. The studio is also available for use by the wider community.
