Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to enhance student learning, promote responsibility, and foster a love for music through structured homework assignments that reinforce classroom instruction. 

Assignment Frequency: - Homework assignments will be given regularly, typically once a week, to reinforce concepts learned in class. - Additional assignments may be given for special projects, performances, or upcoming assessments. 

Types of Homework: - Practice Assignments: Students are expected to practice their instruments or vocal techniques for a specified amount of time each week. - Listening Assignments: Students will be assigned pieces to listen to and analyze, focusing on elements such as melody, harmony, rhythm, and style. - Students will have access to the app Focus on Sound the leading interactive learning platform for secondary music. It is an extensive ready-made, reliable and age-appropriate multimedia learning materials for use in the classroom, at home or on the go, with built-in auto-marked assessment to easily demonstrate progress and achievement. 

Research Projects: Occasional research assignments may be given to explore composers, musical genres, or historical contexts. - Performance Preparation: Students will prepare for performances, which may include solo pieces or ensemble work. 

Submission Guidelines: - All written assignments must be submitted by the specified due date. - Practical assignments should be documented in practice logs, which will be collected periodically. - Projects must be presented according to the guidelines provided at the time of assignment. 

Grading Criteria: - Homework will be graded based on completion, effort, and adherence to guidelines. - Performance assessments will consider improvement, technical skill, and expression. 

Support and Resources: - Students are encouraged to seek help if they encounter difficulties with assignments. 

 Parental Involvement: - Parents are encouraged to support their children’s musical education by providing a conducive environment for practice and engaging in discussions about their assignments.
