‘This school is genuinely at the heart of its community’ - Ofsted 2014
In 2014 Ofsted officially recognised the value that Worle Community School has placed on the importance of working in partnership with its community. The school focuses on a commitment to offer opportunities for children, parents and members of the community to share its exciting facilities and to engage in partnership work with other organisations.
Our Student Leadership Team fronts many of our celebrations and activities enabling them to develop their leadership skills and forge a strong link between the school and the community. In Year 9, students can volunteer to become part of the iTeam where they receive training to work with primary students and share computer skills particularly linked with Apple technologies. This has an amazing impact on their confidence as well as developing social and personal skills.
We have excellent partnerships with our local primary schools, businesses and community groups working on projects and curriculum opportunities that both challenge and enhance our students’ perceptions.
- Working with Primary Schools on projects that support transition, staff development and the primary and secondary curriculums
- Holiday activities for families and children across the Worle cluster of schools
- Community projects with organisations such as Weston-super-Mare Town Council, Weston Rotary Club, Severnside Community Rail Partnership
- Curriculum Enrichment Project Week, offering a chance for students to take charge of their own learning journey and challenging themselves with new experiences.
