Sports Leaders

The Level 1 Sports Leaders Award is a qualification that is offered during core PE lessons in year 10. The course is in it's 4th year with a 100% pass rate which is an outstanding achievement for the leaders and for the PE department.

The leaders are trained in many skills over the 2 terms such as umpiring, communication, etiquette, leadership qualities, motivation, orgainising, planning and delivering sports sessions. The leaders work towards their assessment which is leading local primary schools in a sports activity. Such activities include quicksticks hockey, KS1/2 multiskills, football, Hi5 netball, indoor athletics and ASDA active events.

The leaders are role models and ambassadors for the school and PE department. They give up their own time to lead sessions and often help out coaching younger years in the school teams. They lead sessions with maturity, enthusiasm and confidence. They inspire others through their involvement and commitment in sport.

The leaders are formally recognised with a level 1 award and a praise breakfast where parents are invited in to witness the pupils recieving their certficates from the Head Teacher. Our amazing Sports Leaders also won a nationwide compeition in the 'Give More Become More' campaign. Have a look at the video at the top of the page.

In 2015/2016 a cohort of Year 10s particpated in the Level 2 Sports Leaders Award with again an 100% success rate. The feedback from this cohort of pupils when they have been delivering sports sessions to our feeder primary schools has been outstanding. Again, these pupils attended a celebration breakfast to reward them for their effort over the year. Well done to all involved!
