Students excel in attitude and skill in Duke of Edinburgh brilliance
Incredible students are striving to achieve the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh award by showing array of skills and character traits.
Dozens of Year 9 students have been working vigorously to achieve the prestigious bronze Duke of Edinburgh award.
To reach this, these endeavouring Worle Community School Academy students in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset have to show brilliant skills and character traits including resilience and team building.
They have to all be fully involved in the planning for an expedition on the Quantocks that consists of a minimum of 2 days, 1 night, and 6 hours planned activity each day, supervised by an adult in groups of 4-7.
They have camping accommodations, and self-catering sites and are expected to endure this adventurous feat.
The expedition will also teach life skills such as navigation, cooking, and packing for all possibilities.
Post expedition, participants must additionally engage with a debrief with their assessor.
Principal Jacqui Scott said: “We are so proud of all these students who are achieving the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Award. It is an excellent preparation for life and a whole host of character traits and skills.”
Teacher Olivia Elliott said: “I am so proud of them as they all looked after each other and improved their mental and physical resilience. It was a challenge for the pupils but there were so many smiles.”
