Safer Streets For Women intiative
Please read below a plea from Virginia R-G, a Year 10 student at WCSA and below it a report from the Weston Police Cadets:
I was wondering whether WCSA could promote this initiative on raising awareness for the Safer Streets for Women campaign and encourage people associated with the school to vote for the Weston Police Cadets entry. This entry was written by myself and my group and I am very pleased that our group was short-listed. Thank you. Ginny
At the beginning of April some of the Cadets took part in the Safer Streets for Women and Girls Media Challenge and created podcasts with an important message raising awareness to Violence Against Women and Girls.
One of the Weston Cadet's entries into the Media Challenge has been put forward to a public vote. The judges were impressed by the high standard of entries and it’s a credit to the young people in Group 1 who have been selected.
The public vote is a fun and effective way of encouraging young people to share their creativity and spread these important messages to the wider community. By promoting the voting page and gathering as many votes as possible for your finalist they will be spreading the safer streets message to as many people as possible.
Over 150 entries from schools and youth groups right across Somerset and North Somerset were received, so simply by making it to the final our group have already shown yourselves to be amazing representatives of the Police Cadets.
The public vote runs until 5pm on Wednesday 15th June. The winner will be the entry with the most votes at 5pm on Wednesday 15th June. The finalists can be viewed right now at www.collaboratedigital.com/vote
In parallel, our judges will also select their favourites. Please make sure to get all your friends and family to vote as well!
