Award-winning students see academy install 1,132 solar panels

A world award-winning academy have installed 1,132 solar panels in the latest round of student-led inspirational eco work.
Worle Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset is blazing a trail for its futuristic eco-work and award-winning student-led eco work including electric car chargers, bikes, travel to school changes and communications.
Now it has installed 1,132 solar panels across the school to generate electricity at a reduced tariff to the mains provider and to help the environment.

The school’s student-led Climate Justice Revolution (CJR) has been campaigning successfully for changes for the last two years.
The CJR recently finished semi-finalists in the international Global Social Leaders competition involving over 600 teams from 105 countries.
CJR Leader and Head Boy, Jack Clark, aged 16, said, “We are thrilled to see the solar panels right across the school producing environmentally friendly energy.
“Our students have successfully campaigned to produce eco-powered changes across a range of areas and we are delighted to see such positive progress.“

Worle Community School Academy has recently installed two electric car chargers, and last year won a prestigious award for environmental travel to school with enthusiastic students picking up the prize.
They already have electric bikes, cycle training, bike fixing and a travel ‘champion’.
