A newly qualified teacher thanks teachers at his old school after they inspire him to a teaching career

Oliver Grant is thriving as a teacher at Worle Community School Academy in The Priory Learning Trust in Somerset just a few years after being inspired by his teachers at Priory Community School Academy.
Oliver is also the beneficiary of a fruitful partnership with The Ogden Trust which aims to increase the uptake of physics for all at post-16, particularly for those from under-represented groups.
Oliver has just been presented with his certificate.
He said: “I’m delighted to be a teacher and am so thankful for all the inspiration during my time at PCSA. Mrs Daniels pushed me to want to learn more about the world.
“Motivating students to discover more and understand the world around them, as my teachers at PCSA did for me, was one of the main reasons I went into teaching.
“The continual learning through TPLT now enables me to pass more and more knowledge onto students and develop their skills.”
The Priory Learning Trust is continuing to recruit School Direct trainees for a September 2021 start.
It is currently the fourth year that the incredibly successful programme has been training up teachers.
The course is producing top quality home-grown teachers for Worle Community School Academy, Priory Community School Academy, The King Alfred School Academy, St Anne’s Church Academy, Castle Batch School Academy, Pawlett Primary School Academy, and others in the area.
TPLT are seeing exceptional teachers being trained out of careers including law, banking and sport.
Denise Hurr, Head of Training School Alliance at The Priory Learning Trust, said: “Teaching is the best job in the world and we are delighted to see so many people wanting to sign up.”
Neville Coles, CEO of The Priory Learning Trust, said: “It is wonderful to see our pupils and students thriving during their time inside our schools, so much that they want to return as teachers.
“We really do grow our own teachers – this is not just an aspiration of our schools but an amazing reality.”
