Worle Community School Academy celebrated the achievements of every single student, in a year when the coronavirus lockdown abolished GCSE exams for the first time.

The high-flying Academy saw 57 Grade 9s across the school, and 124 Grade 8s.

Eight students got eight or more of the top grades of 9 to 7. Some 14 students achieved every grade as 9 to 7.

I am really really happy. This is a wonderful school and like a second home to me.

We are extremely proud of all of our students. We know that this year’s grades mean that more students than ever will be able to get onto A Level and college courses.

After such a turbulent six months for young people across the country, it’s wonderful to be able to celebrate this level of success.
— Jacqui Scott - WCSA Principal

The results follow a brilliant four years for WCSA since being led by The Priory Learning Trust and Principal Jacqui Scott.

Worle is a high achieving school with an excellent culture of happiness, and it has superb facilities.

Neville Coles, CEO of The Priory Learning Trust, said: “A very big well done to the class of 2020 – we are delighted to see some great GCSE results for our students and wish them well in their future journeys.

“As always, we are very pleased to reward academic success but are always mindful to to note that school is about much more than examination grades.

“Our young people leave with a wide range of educational experiences and we hope with a well-rounded character that will prepare them well for the challenges ahead.

“A very big thank you to all parents and carers who have supported us and the students in what can only be described as challenging times.

“We look forward to 2021 with renewed hope and wish all staff and students well for the new school year starting next week. As normal thank you to all our dedicated staff and to our colleagues in the primary sector who passed on these great young people to us five years ago.”
