Principal’s Update for Parents - Monday 11th May 2020
Principal’s Friday Update for Parents
Monday 11 May 2020
I would like to update you on events here at WCSA, as lockdown continues. Along with the rest of the nation, I have just listened to Boris talk about what life will look like in the next few weeks. On a personal level, I am delighted that I will be able to exercise as often as I like. There was some information given about schools reopening but this linked to the rate of infection as there needs to be protection from the virus affecting more people. Clearly we will need to await guidance of what this will look like in reality. As soon as we know more (and Boris talked about a 50 page document being presented in parliament tomorrow) we will work out how we achieve this here at WCSA.
So, for the majority of parents, this means that we continue with the home schooling arrangement. I know this is tough at times. I have read a few articles in the papers over the weekend. Children (and parents) all over the world shared their experiences of the trials and tribulations of getting on with work at home, without a physical teacher! Just encourage your children to achieve something each day and to take regular breaks. Do not drive yourself insane if there is a lack of cooperation – simply be kind to yourselves and your families. Teachers are on email and Miss Neal is coordinating the “School Closure” work and is prompt to answer questions and sort out any issues arising. We have now sent out nearly 400 certificates to recognise student achievements. With a slightly slower postal service, they will start to arrive on doormats this week. We are determined to reward students who are completing their work!
VE day feels a long way away now. The sun has stopped shining and the bunting has come down. However, on my daily “Walk around Weston” it was great to see some of the tea parties taking place (at a social distance, of course). It felt very deserted on Weston beach; unprecedented for a long bank holiday.
Please do remember that if your children would like to flex their creative muscles, then take a look at our “Art Competition.” We are keen to enhance our WCSA site with some more signage. What better way to do this than with students art work? Please see below.
