Home Learning

Home Learning for English is completed via the Tassomai website (https://www.tassomai.com/). This fantastic online programme incorporates an intelligent retrieval and practice system that adapts to the specific areas of strength and weakness for each student. By completing the Daily Goals each week, students will develop a deeper understanding of key English principles as well as boosting their own confidence and feeling of achievement.

Students should complete the appropriate number of Daily Goals each week by filling the green circle on the app. This is achieved by answering a set number of questions.

  • Year 7 students should complete a minimum of 2 Daily Goals per week (Monday-Sunday)

  • Year 8 students should complete a minimum of  2 Daily Goals per week (Monday-Sunday)

  • Year 9 students should complete a minimum of  3 Daily Goals per week (Monday-Sunday)

In addition to the weekly Tassomai, students should be reading regularly at home. We recommend reading for at least 10 minutes every day. Students in Years 7 and 8 are competing in the Reading Race during their LRC lessons so reading at home is essential for their progress.

We also offer students an additional range of activities linked to our in class learning on Google Classrooms. Students can access the 'Home Learning' menu on the Classwork tab of their Google Classrooms page.

Key Stage Four Home Learning

Home Learning for Key Stage Four is completed via Google Classrooms. Students will receive a weekly homework task designed to support revision for GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature. In response to student voice surveys, we will post all the tasks for the learning cycle at the start of the unit, however the submission dates will be staggered weekly in line with the whole school home learning policy.

In addition to the weekly revision tasks on Google Classrooms, students are also encouraged to continue using the Tassomai app (https://www.tassomai.com/) to support their revision process. This fantastic online programme incorporates an intelligent retrieval and practice system that adapts to the specific areas of strength and weakness for each student. By completing the Daily Goals each week, students will develop a deeper understanding of key English principles as well as boosting their own confidence and feeling of achievement. Students in KS4 are encouraged to complete 4 Daily Goals per week.
