National Creative Writing Competitions are entered every year by the students at WCSA. Every year we are incredibly proud that so many of our students are selected for publication. We currently have over 300 published authors at our school!
“Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.”
Jill Dando News Centre students at WCSA are invited to become journalists and report on the world around them. Led by the intrepid Miss R Collingwood, students delve into the issues facing the world today whilst also reporting on the achievements of students across The Priory Learning Trust.
Reading for fun takes place in the LRC before school on a Wednesday and offers students the chance to discuss and swap books for fun! We can to encourage a reading culture at WCSA and love to hear about the new books students have been reading.
“We read to know we are not alone.”
Theatre Trips run as often as we can find a relevant performance that is financially viable for us to visit. In recent years, we have been able to visit Shakespeare’s globe and The Swan Theatre in Stratford upon Avon. However, we strongly believe that the theatre experience should be shared by all students, which is why we annually invite The Young Shakespeare Company into WCSA to perform their version of Romeo and Juliet. Students experience the thrill of Shakespeare ‘ in the round’ at a very small financial cost (normally less that £5 per student). It is an experience that is always loved by our students!
