Parent Update 25th February

Parent Update – Term 4

Welcome Back

Welcome back to Term 4. I hope you have enjoyed a week off in the warmer weather with your children. As always, thank you for your support of all we do at WCSA.

We are looking forward to Term 4 here at WCSA as there is so much going on. My personal weekly favourite is “Students of the Week”. Each week, I see students, chosen by their Year Head for their outstanding effort and contribution to life here at WCSA. Pictured below (with Mrs McGill) are our Year 7 students – recognised before we broke up for ‘Acts of Kindness’. Well done - I really like to see the smiling faces and the reward badges.

I also enjoy talking to our parent body and getting feedback from you. At the end of Term 3, I conducted the termly “Parents’ Forum”. I have a loyal team of parents who give freely of their time to help make WCSA even better. If you would like to join the forum please do drop me an e –mail here at the academy. I would be delighted if we could expand the group. Parents are keen that WCSA students are smartly turned out. This, we all agreed, is great preparation for the world of work, particularly in the competitive times we live in. We have already spoken to your children: from Term 4 we will be asking the uniform policy to be firmly observed with regards to socks. Socks should be black or white only. Now, personally, I love a novelty sock; however, these will have to be reserved for weekend wear only. I would like to thank you in advance for your support with this matter of policy.

Term 4 is the term when the Year 11s are giving their all for GCSEs. Winter is (hopefully) behind us and the warm days of GCSEs (that we all remember so well?!) are really beckoning now. In reality, we tell our Year 11s that they have another eight weeks left until the examination period begins in earnest. I was delighted, over half term, to see some of our Year 11s in completing their Food Tech work. I know that we will be offering more additional sessions in the coming weeks. So – for parents of Year 11 students – please do come to the information evening on Tuesday 25 February. Mrs Pooley and Mrs Mac will let you know what we have on offer and how to best to support your children during this critical time.
