Ian Ingram

Born and educated in Weston, attended Priory School until 1991. Joined the British Army in 1994, embarking on an exciting 22 year career, as an Air Despatcher, deploying abroad, on many occasions at very short notice, to support airborne operations worldwide. My role was to provide parachuted resupply to allied forces, from C-130 Hercules aircraft. Awarded medals for operations in: Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as receiving the LS&GC medal for long service and good conduct.

Spent 3 years working as a military instructor, training Army recruits to become qualified Air Despatchers, sparking a passion in working with and developing young people, that continues to this day. Whilst in this role, completed a Level 4 qualification in Equality & Diversity, becoming the E&D advisor to the Officer Commanding.

In later years, while running the Squadron Logistics department and in preparation for a return to civilian life, gained numerous qualifications in the management of Safety, Health, Environment and Fire, gaining NEBOSH Level 3 Certificates in all areas.

Retired from the Army in 2016, currently employed as the Logistics manager, for MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol. Accountable for all mail and goods receipt and distribution, as well as being the waste manager of the site which accommodates 9000 permanent staff.

Married to Jessica for 17 years, with 3 children, Leia 14, Phoebe 12 and Freddie 10. A dedicated family man, with a love for Sport, Travel and Geek culture.

I believe the skills and experience detailed above, along with an enthusiasm for public service, means I could, hopefully be an asset as a parent Councillor, and would relish the opportunity to help shape the education of local children, not least my own.
